Technical Specifications

Polarization of Light by Reflection and Determination of the Polarizing Angle for an Air–Glass Interface

Apparatus Used

  • Specially Designed Spectrometer – Used for precise measurement of the angle of incidence and reflected light intensity during the polarization experiment.
  • Diode Laser (5 mW) with Power Supply – Provides a stable and coherent monochromatic light source for observing polarization effects.
  • Polarizer and Analyzer – Used to produce and analyze polarized light, enabling accurate determination of the polarization state of the reflected beam.
  • Photo Detector – Detects and measures the intensity of reflected light for experimental observations and analysis.
  • Glass and Acrylic Plates – Serve as reflecting surfaces for studying polarization by reflection and determining the polarizing (Brewster’s) angle at different interfaces.
This setup is used to investigate the polarization of light upon reflection and to accurately determine the Brewster’s angle for the air–glass interface.
