It is a precision instrument for measuring small lengths such as the diameter of Newton’s rings, narrow tubes, and other fine laboratory measurements. It features a compound microscope mounted on a rigid metal frame, allowing precise movement both horizontally and vertically. Vernier scales, fine motion screws, and a sliding carriage ensure accurate readings, making it ideal for advanced optical and laboratory experiments.

Technical Specifications

  • Base: Heavy cast iron base, properly painted, with two levelling screws and a machined top surface for smooth sliding of the carriage with clamping screws for locking.
  • Horizontal Scale: Lifetime stainless steel scale, 0–20 cm with 0.5 mm divisions.
  • Vertical Scale: Lifetime stainless steel scale, 0–14 cm with 0.5 mm divisions.
  • Verniers: Horizontal and vertical verniers with 50 divisions, where 50 vernier divisions coincide with 49 main scale divisions.
  • Sliding Carriage: Slides along a vertical metal bar fitted on a horizontal carriage; fine motion screws provided for precise horizontal and vertical adjustments.
  • Slow Motion Guide:
    • Horizontal fine motion: approx. 3 cm range for convenience in fine measurements.
    • Vertical fine motion: approx. 2.5 cm range.
  • Microscope: Can be clamped in vertical or horizontal plane, fitted with 10x Ramsden eyepiece with cross line graticule.
  • Objective: Achromatic, 50 mm or 75 mm working distance, focusing via rack & pinion.
  • Construction & Finish: Chrome-plated brass parts, latest polychromatic finish for durability and aesthetics.
  • Packaging: Supplied in a superior quality wooden box with dust cover and instruction manual.
