Tangent Galvanometer

Precision instrument used for measuring current by the tangent law of magnetism. The galvanometer features a bakelite-molded ring with multiple sets of insulated windings, mounted on a pivoted base with a sensitive compass box for accurate readings.

Technical Specifications

  • Ring: Bakelite molded, 170 mm diameter, with three sets of windings (2, 50, 500 turns or 2, 5, 50 turns) carefully insulated.
  • Terminals: Heavy brass terminals with clearly marked number of turns.
  • Base: Pivoted round bakelite ring mounted on an aluminum tripod base with three brass leveling screws for stability.
  • Compass Box: High-sensitivity, permanent magnet, 5” diameter, mounted on a brass pillar, freely rotatable, graduated to single-degree precision.
  • Construction: All brass parts are chrome-plated for durability.
  • Overall Height: Approximately 9 inches.
