Technical Specifications

  • Support: The bakelite or aluminum molded supports secure the pipe on both sides using rods and nuts.
  • Tube/Pipe: The pipes are made of special porcelain for insulation and durability.
  • Sliders: The guide rod carrying the contact block is fastened to the support projections with screws. The sliders feature phosphor-bronze contacts with a double contact system, ensuring smooth movement along the rod. A heavy brass block is included to enhance smooth operation and prolong lifespan. The sturdy construction and effective heat dissipation make these rheostats ideal for general laboratory use.
  • Terminals: Three brass terminals are provided—one connected to the sliding contact and two to the winding ends—allowing the rheostat to function as a variable resistance or potential divider.
  • Winding Wires: Layers of electrically oxidized Eureka wire are wound on the insulating porcelain tube according to the required length and resistance.
  • Description: The total resistance and maximum current capacity are marked on the sliders for easy reference.
