It used to demonstrate the decomposition of water by electrolysis. It features platinum electrodes mounted with rubber stoppers in the open ends of two graduated glass limbs, which are connected by a reservoir tube and funnel-shaped bulb. Each limb includes a stopcock for controlled gas release. The unit is supported by a metallic stand to prevent breakage. All glass components are made from Corning glass for durability and clarity.
