It is lacquered brass beam engraved with 50 scale divisions on each side, with each division representing 1/5 mg. It has a lacquered pillar with nickel-plated fittings and detachable pans suspended from double hooks. Mounted on a sunmica wooden base with leveling screws, it is housed in a teak wood case with a front slider and panel doors.
