Constant Deviation Wavelength Spectrometer is a direct instrument designed to work with various visible wavelengths in the visible spectrum. It is used in different departments for the study of spectral series, emission spectra of elements, absorption spectra of compounds, fluorescence spectra, band spectra, the Zeeman effect, and the determination of e/m. It is also used for detecting traces of metallic elements. The spectrometer is used for Raman spectra of liquids, polarization studies in Raman spectra, rapid qualitative analysis of metallic components in unknown substances, detection of rare-earth elements in minerals, and quantitative spectrum analysis, functioning as a monochromator. It consists of the following components:
Base: A heavy and stable base that has a pillar on which a platform, collimator, telescope, and prism housing are mounted.
Prism Table: This carries the prism, pillion, and Broca type prism with a refractive index of 1.65/1.74.
It is properly housed with a cover that can be rotated by a wavelength drum on the outside.
Telescope: This is fitted on the platform and is focused using a rack and pinion.
It has an achromatic objective with good light resolution and an eyepiece with a scale that measures up to 0.01 cms.
Collimator: It is equipped with an achromatic objective that has high resolution and can be operated using a rack and pinion.
It has a slit with variable opening controlled by a micrometer screw.
