It is designed for precise measurement of heat transfer in liquids using Callender and Barne’s method. The apparatus features a horizontal glass tube with an internal Ni-chrome wire heating coil. It allows controlled heating of a liquid and measurement of temperature rise, making it suitable for laboratory experiments in thermal physics and calorimetry.

Technical Specifications

  • Horizontal Glass Tube: Corning glass, open at both ends, serving as the main flow channel for the liquid.
  • Heating Element: Spiral Ni-chrome wire coil, approximately 40 cm long, mounted inside the glass tube and easily detachable.
  • Insulated Housing: Wooden case lined with felt, equipped with a hinged cover for safety and insulation.
  • Electrical Terminals: Provided at both ends of the tube for connection to an electrical supply.
  • Inlet & Outlet System: Rubber tube or cork connections, each with a short vertical extension to accommodate a thermometer (thermometers not included).
  • Base & Mounting: Complete apparatus mounted on a polished wooden base board for stability.
  • Accessories Supplied: Constant level tank fitted on a stand; thermometers and transformer not included.
