Young Modulus of a Metal Rod By Interference Method

Model No: AGN-2485
This precision apparatus determines the Young’s modulus of a metal rod using the interference method. The setup allows for highly accurate measurement of minute deflections in the rod by observing Newton’s rings, making it ideal for advanced physics experiments.

Technical Specifications

  • The metal rod carries two metal plates at different points to support a glass plate and a lens.
  • Plates are adjusted using three springs and screws for precise alignment.
  • When a load is applied, the rod bends slightly, altering the distance between the plate and the lens.
  • Newton’s rings are observed initially, and as the load is gradually applied, the rings move toward the center, disappearing one by one.
  • Equipped with a microscope fitted with a micrometer eyepiece scale for precise observation and measurement of the rings.
  • Note: Weights and Sodium Lamp Unit are not included.
