Technical Specifications

  • Brass Disc:
    • Diameter: 12.5 cm; Thickness: 1.25 cm.
    • Solid brass disc suspended from one end of a wire via a chuck nut.
  • Suspension & Universal Clamp:
    • One end of the suspension wire is attached to a Universal Clamp (Cat. No. 2416).
    • The other end is clamped to the brass disc using a chuck nut for secure attachment.
  • Heavy Metal Ring:
    • Brass ring with same outside diameter as the disc.
    • Increases the moment of inertia when placed on the disc, thereby increasing the period of vibration.
  • Experiment Objective:
    • Determine the modulus of rigidity of the wire using the dynamical method.
    • Demonstrate torsion, moment of inertia, and SHM principles.
