Gooch crucible is a specialized laboratory filtration device widely used for gravimetric analysis, filtration, and ignition of residues. It consists of a crucible body with a sintered glass disc at the base that acts as a filtration medium. The sintered disc is porous and allows liquid to pass through while retaining solid particles.

Technical Specifications

  • Constructed from high-quality borosilicate glass for durability and resistance to heat and chemicals
  • Equipped with a sintered glass disc at the base for filtration, available in various porosity grades (G-0 to G-4)
  • Porosity grades:
    • G-0: Coarsest porosity (largest pores) – fastest filtration, for coarse particles
    • G-1: Medium coarse porosity
    • G-2: Medium porosity
    • G-3: Fine porosity
    • G-4: Finest porosity (smallest pores) – slow filtration, for very fine particles
  • Designed for gravimetric analysis where residues are filtered and dried or ignited directly in the crucible
  • Ideal for quantitative filtration in analytical chemistry and material testing
  • Can withstand high temperatures for ignition of residues without damage
  • The sintered disc provides uniform pore size distribution ensuring reproducible filtration results
  • Easy to clean and reuse with proper handling
  • Suitable for use with vacuum or gravity filtration methods
